Sales suck yes? How come some businesses seem to do better than the others. Is there something you may be missing out on? I will share with you here 3 things you do not want to miss out on.

No one knows who you are:
Stop fantasizing and thinking that after you build it, people will come rushing to knock on your doors. Perhaps that happens only in the movies or in your dreams. Common, you are just starting out and no one knows you within the online space. You need to spend some time and resources in putting yourself out there consistently. Your marketing strategy cannot just be tied to posing 3 or 10 times daily, it goes way beyond that. You must be clear on the 5Ws and H of your business and be clear on what you want to accomplish. Be specific and go for it.
You are yet to communicate value:
Humans are generally selfish. All that they want to know is WINFM. What is in it for me? If you are able to clearly articulate the value your audience will glean from purchasing your product or service, then you are on the right path to hitting your sales target
The last one and which for me is very important is that you are yet to define your target audience.
Many a time, we make this mistake and do not understand that building an online business demands that you understand deeply who your target is. Of course, you can not sell to every Tom, Dick, Harry, James, and John. When you have painted the picture of your ideal target audience, you find out that selling to them becomes much easier. You are able to confidently take part in the conversations going on in their minds.
In defining your tA, you need to go the extra mile, ask yourself what your target audience will like to do, how will they act and where can you find them amongst others. Read here.
So let’s deal with a quick case study
The value offered: I make your children comfortable and make them look cute (Now I say this as against saying I sell Children wears
We all know that children do not have the purchasing power just yet so my TA is the mum. It doesn’t stop here; in understanding my target audience, there is a need to go deeper and profile them in detail. So I dig some more and come up with the following information
- A mum aged 25-35 years Old with children between 24months and 10years
- She is a stay at home mum as she doesn’t believe in entrusting the care of her children solely to nannies
- Her husband is a Senior Bank Manager and is hardly at home
- She is on 2 or 3 SM platforms and is quite conversant and aware of current trends
- She loves cooking for her family
- She watches Netflix with her husband in the evenings when he returns home from work and he isn’t too tired
- She visits the Gym at least twice weekly when she drops off her children in School.
My profiling is done to give a deeper understanding of my target audience. Once the picture is clear and narrowed down, selling becomes a walk in the park.
